I am tentatively planning on going to St. Lucia in April and staying at the Sandals Resort for my honeymoon. In specific it would be the Grande St. Lucian resort. One, does anyone have any experience with Sandals? and two (besides the resort stuff) are there any activities/tour that are a must do or a defiantly stay away from? I am completely lost so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

We went to Sandal's Regency St. Lucia in Jan. '06 for our honeymoon and loved it. The people with Sandal's were great, we had an awesome experience. As far as outside tours, the only thing we did was charter a fishing boat for a half day. If you like to fish I would definitely recommend going. There is so much to do at the resorts that we didn't feel the need to go anywhere else. You will have a great time if you decide to go there. You can e-mail me if you want to ask me any questions.

I've been to a few of the Caribbean lslands and my favorite so far is St Lucia. There are 3 Sandals resorts in St Lucia. when you pay to stay at any one, you can spend time at all three because they're all-inclusive. We loved the Sandals Grande which is located near Pigeon lsland, the setting for the famous St Lucia Jazz festival. A climb to the top will give you the most breath taking views of St Lucia and neighboring Martinique.

I stayed at a sandals in december 06 on my honeymoon. I had a great time! I stayed at Montego Bay in Jamaica. I do not know about tours in St. Lucia or anything so I'm no help there. However, the sandals we stayed at was great. No kids, and having everything included was awesome. At the resort- no money was needed. They did have tubing, and snorkeling to do at the resort. They had a list of activities everyday, such as beach volleyball, there was a beach party one night, toga party, talent competition, and if you participated you got the chance to win things. We got 2 bottles of rum. I don't know if all of them do that, but they should.

If you get friendly with the entertainment staff- "the playmakers" I think your stay will become more enjoyable. All the staff was nice, food and drinks were good! I would definitely go back!!!

I've been to St. Lucia's Sandals Halcyon. Everyone is very friendly, very approachable, and willing to help you out.

The resort desk will have a schedule and list of all excursions. You should take advantage and try a few. We did the following:

A tour of Soufriere by bus. Takes you to Sulphur Springs, a botanical garden with waterfalls, and to Plantation Beach for a nice lunch.

My husband went Scuba Diving- said it was awesome.

A day of snorkelling with lunch provided on the boat. Music is played and booze is served too.

A helicopter ride which was the best I've ever been on! The pilot gave us a wild ride and the views are awesome!

We also went to the local open air market shopping area. Didn't like this too much because the locals hounded us and hagled with us constantly. We felt a bit intimidated.

I would stick to activities and such that the resort has to offer. I am positive you won't be disappointed. Sandals is great and I would love to stay at one again.

Have a great time!

I will be going to Sandals Grande St. Lucian in April 2008 for my honeymoon. :) I have looked over tripadvisor.com, talked to friends, posted on forums, and my travel agent (who has been to all the resorts many, many times). It seemed the best choice for us. We like warm temperatures, calmer waters, all-inclusive, etc.

I have been to Beaches and Sandals in Negril Jamaica. I really like how this type of resort is run, so that's why I wanted to go to Sandals for the honeymoon. I did not want to go to a family/kid allowed resort. I have nothing against kids, I just didn't want that type of atmosphere on the honeymoon.

If you stay at one Sandals in St. Lucia, you can visit the other two for free. So, that gives you some "safe" options. I also would like to ride the horses on the beach/ocean if we can. I did this in Jamaica and enjoyed it a lot, but my fiance has never tried...so he wants to give it a shot. The tour desks in the resort can help you a lot with this. I'd also check out the tripadvisor.com forums. From what I've heard there are quite a lot of things to do, including Pigeon Island National Historic Park that you can walk to and hike up. Let's also not forget the twin volcanic peaks, the Pitons.

Also, they are having KILLER sales right now with Sandals. Grande St. Lucian has their prices at 40% off for April 2008.

If you want an unforgettable honeymoon - stay at Anse Chastenet in St. Lucia...forget about Sandals. At Anse Chastenet you will sleep in the trees. You will be and feel alone and there is quiet around you. There is gourmet food served with a view of the Pitons and plenty of activites. You can take the same tours and see St. Lucia but have a hideaway. The beach is private for the resort and they have their own snorkling area...There is a roped off area where you can snorkle and see some neat sealife. This is a top line place but your honeymoon is once in a lifetime. Sandals is for any old vacation....Check out Anse Chastenet on the web and see if it is for you. I loved it.
